Alissa Simon will be attending this “pop-up” (virtual) discussion on Saturday, September 27th at 10:00 am. The discussion will focus on Octavia Butler’s 1993 speculative fiction novel, Parable of the Sower. Set in a post-apocalyptic world affected by climate change and social inequality, it follows Lauren Olamina, a young woman with the ability to feel others’ pain, as she navigates a dangerous society and develops a new belief system called Earthseed.
