How often we look. How rarely we see! Harrison Middleton University invites you to see and talk about the wonder-filled paintings of extraordinary artists.
This fall, HMU will host four 90-minute Zoom sessions to discuss works of fine art by masters such as Rembrandt, Cassatt, J.M.W. Turner, Renoir, Hopper, et al.
To participate, you need only bring an open mind and a sense of humor. You’ll need no technical or historical knowledge about painting, artists, theory, or aesthetics. Our looking and seeing and discussing will be guided by inquiry-based questioning—the same approach we use with nonfiction, poetry, films, novels, and drama. Preparation time is minimal: 20-30 minutes looking at a few paintings and reading a paragraph or two from a variety of sources.
We will use Zoom to facilitate our discussions. To register, please contact Rebecca Fisher at rf*****@*mu.edu. This series is free and open to all, but limited to 15 participants. Once registered, additional information on the paintings, reading selections, and Zoom will be provided.
