The beginning of the 2015 Tour de France and the completion of the 2015 Women’s World Cup introduces questions of the interplay between ego and experience. How does one become more than proficient, become expert, at a specific skill without elevating the ego beyond reasonable bounds? What would a reasonable boost in ego be? What is the purpose or role of the ego? Do we need it in order to achieve success?
