A few years ago, the New York Botanical Garden hosted a beautiful event dedicated to Emily Dickinson. They created a facade of her house and gardens in an attempt to demonstrate a living portrait of the Dickinson world. Many students of literature may be surprised to know that Dickinson was an amazing gardener. In fact, a better understanding of horticulture absolutely enlivens her poetry.
